Former Saints defensive back Darren Sharper was arrested Friday in Los Angeles in connection with two sexual assaults, and is being investigated for another in Louisiana. Sharper was booked, and subsequently released on $200,000 bail.
LAPD indicated that he was being investigated for two separate sexual assaults in the West Los Angeles area, one in October 2013 and one this month. New Orleans PD subsequently released a statement indicating Sharper was also implicated in a sexual assault case in their jurisdiction in September 2013. That investigation is still underway.
Darren Sharper, who played 14 seasons in the NFL, has been working as an analyst for the NFL Network. However, a network spokesperson stated that due to the charges and ongoing investigations, Sharper has been suspended without pay effective immediately.
No statement has been released by Darren Sharper or his representatives.
