The Oklahoma City Thunder won their Western Conference Semifinals series versus the Los Angeles Clippers, but they lost one of their best defensive weapons.
It is being reported that power forward Serge Ibaka will likely miss the remainder of the playoffs with a left calf injury he suffered in Game 6 against the Clippers. Ibaka is not only a defensive weapon with his shot-blocking ability, but he is the Thunder’s third-leading scorer. The loss significantly decreases the Thunder’s chances of beating the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, let alone a chance at a NBA title for the young but experienced squad.
Diva’s Dish: This is Kevin Durant’s time to shine. Without Russell Westbrook this season, Durant kept the Thunder atop the West, as well as put himself in the MVP race. This could be his opportunity to show his ability to carry a team to the title even when the odds are stacked against him, like many of the greats have had to do at one time or another.
