Black Monday is well underway.
Washington has announced head coach Mike Shanahan has been relieved of his duties with the team. This is news isn’t very surprising after an abysmal season that saw a rift grow between head coach and star quarterback Robert Griffin III. All came to a head when Shanahan benched Griffin for the last three games of the season. Many felt his days were numbered, and that he might be trying to get fired.
And now a coaching search begins for a team that has had 15 different coaches since owner Dan Snyder took over. Hmmm…something to think about I’d say.
Also, after a season with no real quarterback option, the Minnesota Vikings parted ways with head coach Leslie Frazier. With a new stadium coming, Frazier was always a possibility to be on the chopping block. Minnesota ownership wants to energize their fan base to start selling those new Personal Seat Licenses.
A lot needs to happen for the Vikings including finding a franchise quarterback and a coach with fiery passion. Best of luck to them with that.
