Well isn’t this perfect timing.  Just in time for his second Super Bowl, and his impending retirement, a story indicating Ray Lewis took a banned substance following his triceps injury this season has come to the surface.

The Sports Illustrated report details Lewis and his connection to Sports With Alternatives to Steroids (SWATS).  The co-owner of SWATS, Michael Ross, told SI that he spoke with Lewis soon after his torn triceps injury this season.  Lewis supposedly requested something to help him get back on the field quicker, and deer antler spray was one of the prescribed treatments.  Deer antler spray contains IGF-1 which is a substance on the NFL’s banned list.

During Super Bowl media today, the Ravens legendary linebacker dismissed the report.
