In the biggest game of the season, defense reigned supreme…just as it had when Alabama and LSU fought back in November. This time though, the outcome was very different. You see this game was all Alabama.
From the first snap, it seemed Nick Saban’s Tide was much more prepared than Les Miles’s Tigers. Alabama dominated from beginning to end with a stifling defense and just enough offense to make a few field goals seem like an insurmountable lead through three quarters. And the Trent Richardson touchdown to make it 21-0 only sealed the deal. Alabama was the no. 1 team in the country.
And the polls Tuesday morning, agreed. Alabama was atop all polls with LSU, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Arkansas rounding out the top 5. This was a season to watch, with many thrills. I was quite disappointed to see it end with such a lackluster, boring one-sided game. But hey…we’ve always got next season.
