2012′s Fab Five

Gymnastics’ Fab Five

No it’s not the most original team nickname (can’t top Michigan’s Fab Five), but the name fits perfectly for the ladies of the United States Olympic Gymnastics team.  Gabby Douglas, Jordyn Wieber, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross, and McKayla Maroney became the first US Women’s Gymnastics team to win Gold in the team all-around since the Magnificent Seven of the ’96 Atlanta Games.

With solid performances from all of the ladies, the ladies were able to hold off Russia who had a couple huge missteps on vault, beam, and floor exercise.  So proud of these young women!  Definitely see more wonderful things coming their way.

Next up, individual all-around for team leaders Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman.  And individual event medals for each exercise where we will see McKayla go for gold in vault – the only exercise she completed in team all-around.
